TEALEAVES Jewel of Seiffen Rum Tea Holiday Cocktail Recipe Mixology

Jewel of Seiffen

MIXOLOGY RECIPE

Jewel of Seiffen

Named after the German town of Seiffen, where nutcrackers were first crafted, this cocktail brings rich and creamy Nutcracker tea to life with a dash of rum and Creme de Cacao.

Choosing two different rums of varying molasses content to complement the notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and hazelnut in the tea, mixologist Jesse Dureka creates a decadent German fairytale experience.

Jetlag Fizz Cocktail

Jewel of Seiffen

Notes from Jesse Dureka, Mixologist at The Rittenhouse:

“We spent a half hour each day for a week to experiment with the amount and type of sugar added to best complement the tea’s palate. In the end, we decided on muscovado, which has a slight molasses taste, and really highlighted the notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and hazelnut in the tea. Using the white sugar just made it sweet but added little complexity.”
