How to Make Tea with a Tea Press

Learn how to make the perfect cup of tea using our Loose Leaf Tea Press. A tea press is one of the best ways to make tea, as it can accurately control the infusion time. The high ratio of water to the surface of the tea leaves allows for the full release of flavor and aroma. A tea Press also allows you to showcase the beautiful dance of the leaves and brilliant colors!



Step By Step

Step 1 - Heat water

POUR FRESH WATER INTO A TEA KETTLE AND HEAT TO EXACT TEMPERATURE.

Heat the water by boiling it and never by microwaving it, as it leads to inconsistent water temperatures. Take care not to over-boil or re-boil your water, which results in stale-tasting tea from an imbalance of elements in the water. Water temperature also has a profound impact on infusion quality; for example, unfermented green teas can be easily bruised by overly hot water which extracts too many tannic acids, rendering a bitter palate.

Step 2 - Add tea leaves into tea press

USE 1 TSP OF TEA LEAVES PER 1 CUP OF WATER.

Add your tea to your tea press allowing it to steep for a proper balance of flavors. At this time, put the tea press lid on, but do not press down. Allow for the tea to steep for the correct amount of time.

TEA STORAGE 101

Store tea and herbs in a cool, dark, and dry (low humidity) place. Proper storage of tea lowers the deterioration rate of the fragile essential oils – hot, humid conditions with exposure to UV destroys tea. Once opened, we recommend consuming the tea within the year.

Step 3 - Strain the tea leaves

GENTLY PRESS DOWN ON THE TEA PRESS

Slowly push down on the tea press, allowing your tea leaves to strain from your now steeped tea. Please note to be careful for over-extraction as tea leaves still in contact with water will continue to infuse, resulting in bitterness.

Step 4 - Savor the moment
