About This Blend

Hand-picked and micro-farmed by women in India’s Kumaon Himalayas—1,500 meters above sea level in the headwaters of the Ganges—this organic Himalayan chamomile has transformed livelihoods, empowering women-led households with sustainable income. What began as an innovative approach to economic resilience has flourished into a thriving, women-driven agricultural movement. In partnership with the Pan Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme, our Master Blenders have carefully crafted this chamomile into a soothing infusion, balancing delicate floral notes with a rich, herbaceous depth. With all profits reinvested, these farmers have secured essential equipment, expanded their harvests, and strengthened their futures. Today, more than 100 farmers across 13 villages cultivate chamomile as a value-added crop, creating meaningful change—one bloom at a time.

Meet the Women

TRANSFORMING THEIR COMMUNITY
Meet Tulsi Devi, her daughter, Dhana, and the other women that have pioneered the cultivation of chamomile in India’s Kumaon Himalayas.

Tulsi and Dhana, both locals of Malla Satinaugaon, were lead farmers and spearheaded the first two trials of growing chamomile in their area. From Tulsi and Dhana’s success in growing chamomile, they were able to motivate 38 other women to incorporate chamomile into their cropping cycle.

Today, more than 100 farmers in 13 villages of the river basin are growing chamomile as a value-added crop and have earned solid additional farm income over the past few seasons.

"The women are extremely strong and empowered, but in their society they are not recognized, discriminated against.”

MARGOT CLAVIER
PROGRAM COORDINATOR, TERGAR CHARITY NEPAL

According to the women, "being involved in the group has not only boosted our household income but has also given us an opportunity to engage with the world through chamomile."

Your FAQs, Answered
For Himalayan Meadow Chamomile

Herbal blends should be steeped for 5+ minutes at a temperature of 212°F or 100°C.

Herbal blends typically contain a variety of plant herbs, spices, flowers, roots, berries, and barks, while tisanes are typically infusions of just dried fruits and berries.

Herbal blends do not typically contain any caffeine (because there is no camellia synensis in herbal blends), although they may contain stimulating herbals such as yerba mate. It is important to always check the ingredient listing, and if in doubt about if it is safe for your consumption, consult professional medical advice.
