Rooibos comes from the rugged slopes of the Western Cape Mountains in South Africa. In 1772, botanist Carl Humberg discovered that the locals of the Cape's Cedarberg region made a sweet tasting "tea" of the indigenous "red bush" plant. They picked the stems and leaves, bruised them with hammers, left them in piles to ferment, and then dried them in the sun. Traditionally drunk by the region's Khoi peoples, the infusion tastes like black tea yet has no caffeine, is low in tannin, and is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Best red bush tea (Rooibos)

I first learned about Rooibos tea from reading the ladies number one detective agency. While staying at Animal Kingdom lodge at Disney World I found out that the tea really existed. I drank it the whole time we were there. I do not like to add sugar to tea and this tea doesn’t need anything added. The flavor is unusual, you have to try it. It seems to sooth the stomach as well. I have tried other brands and they all seem to come up short to this brand of tea. The only time I have found a better tasting one is when I tried a loose tea in a french press. It was made with this brand loose tea. Have not found a better tea.
