Irish BreakfastLoose Leaf Tea | Black
An homage to idyllic rolling hills and rugged cliffs, malty black tea pays tribute to age-old edifices.
AROMA: Biscuity, dense, powerful
PALATE: Rich, malty strong body
PURPOSE: Charm & vitality
A brisk and full-flavored blend of strong, dark, malty Assam and bright Kenyan black tealeaves.
Fans of full-bodied teas unite over this strong, malty blend of Indian Assam and African Kenyan estate black teas. Drunk throughout the day in Ireland; often with a a splash of milk to round out the boldness in the cup.
I am a black tea drinker and a huge fan of the Imperial English Breakfast (it's my "go to" tea) however I saw this tea available when I last purchased and decided to give it a try. I occasionally want an even stronger cup and the description sounded promising. A 3 minute steep and I couldn't believe it; the strength and body were perfection. It was stronger but not bitter or cloying; it's a lovely golden-red that stands up to a decent pour of whole milk. It's malty and smooth but could also probably stand up to a sweetener if one so desired. I'm not one to sweeten my tea though and I think this tea is perfect. I'm also not usually one to steep my leaves more than once but tried it with this one. I found the second steep needed 5 minutes to come close to my first steeping, and this was the first time I've been truly happy with the results of reusing leaves. The unique treatment and appearance of the leaves was another treat for me that added to the experience. I hope this tea becomes available again soon and in the large tin size, as it's become a new favorite for me and I hope to make it a pantry staple!
Wonderful tea, with a strong and bold flavor. Great on its own, or with a bit of milk
Wonderful blend! Very robust, malty smooth, no bitterness, takes milk and sugar well if desired. You should be able to get two brews out of it. Everything I would expect from a good Irish Breakfast tea. This is a great option if you are looking to switch from coffee to tea in the morning. I like to have a good, strong black tea with a sandwich in the afternoon, and this is perfect.
