A forlorn temple brought to life. A devoted disciple richly rewarded. A goddesses' mercy gives a gift of generations. Good things come to those whose hearts ring true.

About This Blend

The history of Ti Kuan Yin, or Iron Goddess of Mercy, is steeped in rich legend. In a dilapidated stone temple in Fujian Province stood an elegant statue of Guan Yin. Each day, a poor farmer, struggling from a harsh drought, visited the temple to pray, light incense, and respectfully sweep the floor. One day, the statue came to life and, in gratitude, offered the farmer a Camellia Sinensis plant, instructing him to nurture it and share it with his neighbors. She promised the plant would yield a remarkable reward. The farmer obeyed, and from this humble act of care, the world’s most treasured oolong, Iron Goddess of Mercy, was born.
