Mint Julep Tea

Make a drink and head to the races. A Kentucky Derby favorite, try this twist on the mint julep.

The rich vanilla, oak and toffee notes of the bourbon pair with traditional mint and fresh Organic Long Life Green tea.

Mint Julep Iced Tea

  • 2 tsp. TEALEAVES Organic Long Life Green Loose Leaf Tea
  • 2 oz. Russell's Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon 
  • 1 Tbsp. Mint Simple Syrup (see below)
  • 2-3 Sprigs
    Fresh Mint Leaves (For Garnish)
  1. Take 2 tsp TEALEAVES Organic Long Life Green tea and steep in 8 oz/236 ml of hot water (82ºC/180ºF is ideal).

  2. Strain the tea after 1 minute, cool.

  3. Muddle the mint leaves at the bottom of a Collins glass.

  4. Fill the glass half full of ice.

  5. Mix the whiskey and simple syrup, and pour over ice.

  6. Fill the rest of the glass with Organic Green tea and stir.

Mint Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup White Sugar 
  • 1 cup Fresh Mint Leaves
  1. Combine sugar, 1 cup of water and mint in a small saucepan.

  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. Remove from heat and cool.

  4. Strain through a sieve.
