Berry Blast

Want a berry delicious summer drink? Try this twist on the classic mint julep. This cocktail takes oolong with its orchid-like notes and mixes berries into the classic recipe.

Mint isn’t the only ingredient meant to be muddled. Try adding a handful of fresh berries for a sweet summer twist on the mint julep. TEALEAVES Organic Imperial Oolong adds a refreshing floral note.

Berry Blast

  • 1 TEALEAVES Organic Imperial Oolong Pyramid Teabag
  • 2 oz. Kentucky Spirit
  • 1 Tbsp. Mint Simple Syrup (see recipe below)
  • 3-4 Sprigs of Mint Leaves
  • 1/2 Lime
  • Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, and Blueberries
  1. Steep 1 Organic Imperial Oolong teabag in 4 oz./ 236 mL. of hot water (87ºC/188ºF is ideal).
  2. Let steep for 2 minutes, remove and cool.

  3. Muddle the mint leaves and several of each berry in the bottom of a Collins glass.

  4. Fill the glass ½ to ¾ full with ice.

  5. Mix whiskey with simple syrup.

  6. Pour over ice.

  7. Squeeze a quarter of a lime’s worth of juice in (half if you like it tart).

  8. Fill with Organic Imperial Oolong tea and enjoy!

Mint Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 1 cup Fresh Mint Leaves
  1. Combine sugar, 1 cup of water and mint in a small saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. Remove from heat and cool.

  4. Strain through a sieve.
